Dear valued partners,

At this time, Avanti Destinations is taking precautions to protect the safety of your clients traveling globally. Due to the inevitable spread of the coronavirus, governments and airlines are changing their policies on a daily basis. With this uncertainty of flight stability, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all booked services for travelers departing the US over the next 60 days (on or before May 16, 2020) effective immediately. Our goal is to ensure that no Avanti passengers are stranded internationally or forced into quarantine unnecessarily.

What if my clients are traveling now?
If you have clients in travel at this time, please note that we are handling these bookings on a case-by-case basis.

How will Avanti protect my client’s money?
To protect as much of the monetary value of your client’s booking as possible, Avanti Destinations has issued Land Future Travel Credits (FTC) for all bookings scheduled to depart from the US on or before May 16, 2020. We have converted 100% of the payment applied to hotels, transfers, sightseeing experiences, rail tickets, city cards, and car rentals into a Land Future Travel Credit (FTC) that can be used through December 31, 2021.

Updated March 30 -- Please note: We will be emailing you concerning your individual bookings. If you choose to decline the Land FTC, we ask that you reply to the email within 20 business days. However, due to the changing waiver policies with each individual airline, we recommend replying as soon as possible.

If we do not hear from you within 20 business days, you are considered to have accepted the Land FTC and no further action will be needed.

What options do my clients have?

Option 1:

Avanti will automatically protect your customer’s booking value with a Land Future Travel Credit:

  • Avanti will provide a Land FTC which can be used for travel to be completed by December 31, 2021. This credit can be used to any destination that Avanti sells.
  • The Land FTC is not refundable or transferable, and has no cash value
  • Commission will be paid on the new booking, not on the cancelled booking
  • Acceptance of a Land FTC may affect the amount awarded under a travel protection claim
  • TripMate travel protection purchased through Avanti Destinations is able to be applied to a new booking without penalty, given no claim is submitted for the original booking
  • Please note that there may be an air waiver or refund due in addition to the FTC – this will be advised to you via email within 3-5 business days and will have separate terms and conditions set by the ticketing airline

Option 2:

You may decline the Land FTC and opt for a refund instead. This may be beneficial if your clients are seeking a cash refund and have purchased travel protection with a cancel for any reason benefit. If the FTC is declined:

  • Standard cancellation penalties will apply, which can be claimed by TripMate’s cancel for any reason benefit, which provides up to 75% cash back on all prepaid, non-refundable services
  • Avanti will refund the remaining balance to your clients. Please note that it may take one to two billing cycles for the refund to reflect on your client’s credit card statement
  • Commission is paid on services that are 100% non-refundable
  • Please note that there may be an air waiver or refund due – this will be advised to you via email within 3-5 business days and will have separate terms and conditions set by the ticketing airline

Land Future Travel Credit Program

What is a Land Future Travel Credit (FTC)?
The very nature of FIT bookings is complex and Avanti Destinations works with thousands of vendors throughout the world to negotiate the best terms for you and your customers. To simplify the process of obtaining a Future Travel Credit (FTC), Avanti will convert the entire Land portion of the itinerary (hotel, transfers, sightseeing activities, rail tickets, and car rentals) into a FTC. There are two items that need to be addressed separately: air tickets and travel protection.

What are the conditions of the Land FTC?
Land FTCs must be utilized by the same travel agent and passengers by December 31, 2021

  1. Land FTCs can be used for any Avanti destination
  2. Land FTCs have no cash value and any unused portion will not be refunded
  3. Land FTCs must be redeemed on a single booking

Note: Acceptance of a Land FTC may affect the amount awarded under a cancel-for-any-reason claim.

If a client is not interested in a Land FTC, then our standard cancelation policy will be applied.

How can TAs communicate with Avanti regarding changes to bookings affected by the COVID-19?

To seek a Land Future Travel Credit:
You can call us at 1-888-970-0341 to speak to a Travel Consultant Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm PT.

To cancel a booking and request a refund:
Email us at cancelrequests@avantidestinations.com. To expedite the process, Travel Advisors should include the Avanti booking number and the US departure date in the email subject line. Please note that standard cancelation fees will be applied.
